In short
Gynecomastia surgery removes enlarged breast tissue in men. If the enlargement is due to fat only, liposuction is enough. If glandular tissue has increased, it is removed through a small incision at the lower edge of the areola. A compression garment is worn for 4–6 weeks.

What causes gynecomastia?
Hormonal changes during puberty, weight gain, some medications, anabolic steroids and certain medical conditions. Hormone-related causes should be ruled out before surgery.
How is it performed?
Fat is removed with liposuction; firm glandular tissue is removed through a small incision at the edge of the areola. The chest is then contoured to a natural male shape.
Recovery
A compression vest is worn for 4–6 weeks. Light exercise after 2–3 weeks; chest workouts after 6 weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Will diet and exercise get rid of gynecomastia?
They reduce fat, but glandular tissue does not disappear with exercise.
Does gynecomastia come back?
Recurrence is rare if the gland is removed and weight remains stable; steroid use can cause it to return.
Is there a visible scar?
The small scar at the areola edge usually blends in.
Does pubertal gynecomastia go away?
Most cases regress within 1–2 years without treatment.
How long does surgery take?
Usually 1–2 hours.
When can I return to the gym?
Light training after 2–3 weeks, chest training after 6 weeks.
How long should I stay in Ankara?
About 5 days.
Is it done under local anaesthesia?
Mild cases can be; general anaesthesia is often preferred.
Will the nipples look normal?
Yes. Contouring aims for a natural male chest with normal nipple projection.
Are tests needed before surgery?
Hormone tests may be requested to rule out an underlying cause.
